Combining Trek’s sub-700-gram Ultralight 800 Series OCLV Carbon frame with a wireless groupset makes the Project One Emonda SLR 7 Force eTap AXS Disc Road Bike both rapid and a joy to ride.

The Emonda frame might be super light, but it has now been treated to an aerodynamic makeover too, meaning that it works well on the run into the mountains as well, making it a very well-rounded choice. The Bontrager AeolusPro 37 OCLV Carbon wheelset is equally adept, being both light for the climbs and low-drag for fast, flat rides too, and at 37mm deep they won’t be upset in blustery conditions either.

SRAM’s second-tier Force eTap 12-speed groupset is completely wireless so there are no issues with cable stretch or wear and every shift will be as crisp and snappy as the first one. Their unique drivetrain design uses smaller chainrings in conjunction with a wide-range 10-33 cassette to give both a breadth of ratios and smaller jumps in between them, so optimal cadence is easy to find. There is even a power meter built into the crank to take training up a notch or make race strategy more effective.
